A love hotel (leisure hotel) is a hotel for couples that can be used for a short "rest" of 1–3 hours as well as an overnight stay. Most have automatic check-in without meeting staff, and rooms often include large baths, jacuzzis or karaoke.
"Rest" (休憩, kyukei) is a short stay, typically 1–3 hours. "Stay" (宿泊, shukuhaku) is overnight, usually from around 20:00–22:00 until the next morning. Many hotels also offer "free time", a long daytime stay at a fixed price.
Yes. Most love hotels can be used by anyone aged 18 or over. Some hotels ask for ID. Prices are usually paid in cash or by credit card at an automatic machine or front desk.
